Building with God: His Plans for Our Future
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchmen keep awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
Welcome back dear student, I pray all is good with you, and that you are growing in your relationship with God through this weekly study.
May the LORD bless you more and more friend, you and your children, for ye are blessed of God Who created Heaven and Earth (Psalm 115:14-15).
Seeking God’s Wisdom and Direction
Last week we saw that writing a vision helps in picturing how the future might look according to God’s plans. We live in the days of consultants. Governments, corporations, and individuals look for the expertise of what others know and have learned and pay well to hear it.
However, many things are built on man’s knowledge alone, and God – the Designer and Creator of Life, is often sidelined as mythical nonsense.
Alarmingly, folks consult spiritualists, psychics, or mediums, yet would not consider asking the LORD Jesus for wisdom and help (Leviticus 19:31; Isaiah 9:6).
It’s hard to watch immorality, junk culture, and negative dark narratives being promoted as truths, when the evidence points to the destructions that result from them, whilst God’s counsel is ignored.
Our Citizenship Is in Heaven
We can hold our peace, for though we live in this fallen world, our citizenship is in Heaven – we are merely journeying through this earth for a short time, as ambassadors of God’s Kingdom, representing His authority, sealed with His approval through the Blood of His Son Jesus: and commissioned to carry on God’s plans (2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Philippians 3:20-21).
Followers of Jesus Christ – who believe that He is the Risen Son of God, who obey His Word and live for Him in the fear of the LORD, are being transformed from low level thinking, into accepting that God’s ways and plans are much better and higher than ours could ever be (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Jesus speaks of being ready for the new wine of God’s Presence – prepared as the new wineskins who will carry His Glory (Matthew 9:17).
The Power of God’s Holy Spirit transforms us, to walk in step with Him (Romans 12:2).
This requires a return to Righteousness – a reverent fear of the LORD, walking in integrity and boldness, which comes from the Truth of His Word being our standard, regardless of what the world thinks.
Building Together with God
There is an exciting call upon God’s people to build with Him, partnering with His design for our future and our children’s.
Everything in God’s Kingdom focuses on advancement and growth – not according to the world’s standards or wishes, but according to the opinion that matters – God alone.
The apostles John and Peter faced opposition when they prayed for a man who got healed. They were hauled before the elite of the day and told to never again speak in the Name of Jesus (Acts 4:7-20).
These people didn’t notice God’s new dispensational order had come. They were still operating under bondage to man’s traditions when God had ordained a New and better Covenant - led by His Holy Spirit, not based on man’s efforts anymore, but on the sacrifice of the Blood of His Son, the Lord Jesus.
Allowing God to Build Our Lives
The lead Scripture above highlights the holes in the work of man’s hands when God is not consulted. While they may look good, really they are futile. Not only does God build with legacy vision; He builds people in its midst - if we remain teachable, and willing to change old patterns and mindsets – not to please man, but God.
Unfortunately, the flesh tries to choose rebellion, pride, bitterness, and idolatry. Such warfare is overcome by the entrance of the Spirit of Truth.
This takes humility, discipline, and leaning upon God’s Spirit for direction, leading us into His blessing and peace.
